Term 1: Our inquiry this term is health.
We are looking at how we can be healthy individual's with reference to the Te Whare Tapa Wha model. The model describes health and wellbeing as a wharenui/meeting house with four walls. These walls represent taha wairua/spiritual wellbeing, taha hinengaro/mental and emotional wellbeing, taha tinana/physical wellbeing and taha whānau/family and social wellbeing. The wharenui will not be able to stand strong if one of its four walls is weak or damaged.
This is a metaphor for the four pillars of wellbeing. Students will gain knowledge about what strengthens their four walls and think about what might damage/weaken them too.
