Homework
You are expected to read and practise maths and spelling most nights of the week. You are also expected to prepare some information for Oral language.
Yep, really!
Weekly Oral Language
Reporting/News
Each week you will have an opportunity to practice speaking to an audience - your classmates. You will need to find/prepare something to report to our class about if you want to share. It should only take 1-3 minutes at most.
The theme or topic you can report on will change at least once a term. This will always relate to what we are learning about or interesting local or international events (such as last year's Olympics).
You belong to a spelling group that will have the same words as you to practise. It is your responsibility to practise these words at least 3 nights before the test on Friday.
Your group and list can be found on the Spelling Page.
There are lots of ways you can learn these.
Write them out on paper, in sand, with a brush and water.
Make them out of letters form a magazine, on the fridge.
Spell them out loud so your brain hears them.
We will all have a Basic Facts level we are working at. Most of us will have a certain set of facts we should be learning and practising.
Practise Games:
Addition, Make Ten, Facts to 20 and Subtraction
It is really important for us all to read or be read to for 10-20 minutes every night. This helps with vocabulary and syntax learning. If we get to talk about the book with someone this really helps our comprehension.
If we are reading it ourselves, it should be a book at a level easy enough that we can enjoy reading it and challenging enough to be interesting.
Our Teacher(s) will try to make sure we have something suitable from the library.
Our Library day is Monday.
