All courses are 1 semester, 1 credit courses unless otherwise noted. Courses can be taken for credit one time only, unless otherwise noted.
Theatre Arts (Beginning) F

In this course, students will learn basic theatre techniques through technical theatre and informal performance. Students will read, analyze, and create scripts as well as create designs for sets, costumes, props, makeup, lighting and sound. They will also learn about the performance aspect of theatre through vocal expression, pantomime, acting, and characterization. Although students are not required to participate in a formal production they are required to assist with our fall/spring productions.

Theatre Arts (Intermediate) F
Course Number: 53162X02
Prerequisite: Theatre Arts (Beginning), Audition is required.
In this course students will exercise proper theatre techniques with an emphasis on performance. Students will learn to apply vocal elements, acting skills, and character interpretation to play scripts for a formal theatrical performance. They will be required to attend some after school rehearsals as well as dress rehearsals during the two weeks before production and will be required to perform and/or help with the production on performance dates (performance dates are set by the Theatre Department). Auditions are part of the curriculum.

Theatre Arts (Proficient) Honors F
Course Number: 53175X03
Prerequisite: Theatre Arts Beginning and Intermediate. Audition is required.
In this course, students will apply various theatre techniques with an emphasis on performance. Students will also use vocal elements and acting skills to develop characters and scenes for a production. They will be required to attend some after school rehearsals as well as dress rehearsals during the two weeks before production and will be required to perform and/or help with the production on performance dates (performance dates are set by the Theatre Department). Auditions are part of the curriculum.

Theatre Arts (Advanced) Honors F

Prerequisite: Theatre Arts Beginning, Intermediate and Proficient. Audition is required.
In this course students will apply and analyze various theatre techniques with an emphasis on performance. Student will use vocal expression, characterization, and conventions of theatre for formal productions. These students may also have a leadership role within the production. They will be required to attend some after school rehearsals as well as dress rehearsals during the two weeks before production and will be required to perform and/or help with the production on performance dates (performance dates are set by the Theatre Department). Auditions are part of the curriculum.

Musical Theatre (Advanced) Honors F/S
Course Number: 53645X01
Prerequisite: One Chorus or One Theatre class
This course prepares students to present the annual spring musical. Students will receive instruction in theatrical singing, stage acting, technical lightning, technical sound, stage choreography, set design, and costume design. Student will be required to attend some after school rehearsals as well as dress rehearsals during the two weeks before production. Student will be required to perform and/or help with the musical on performance dates. (Performance dates are set the the Performing Arts Department.) Auditions will be part of the curriculum.
