HOLY SPIRIT MASS for SY 2022-2023

Mass of the Holy Spirit marks the beginning of the new school year at XUGS.

Fifteen Grade 6 pupils representing their respective sections, together with parents, attended the Mass of the Holy Spirit presided by the University President, Fr. Mars P. Tan, SJ and the Jesuit Fathers assigned at XU Basic Education Cluster this morning. Also known as the Red Mass, it is a tradition among Jesuit schools to begin every school year to hold this liturgical celebration as a way of invoking the guidance of the Holy Spirit and to ask for the gifts needed to sustain one's endeavors.

The XUGS Mass of the Holy Spirit was also attended by the school personnel who regularly report on campus. Class moderators and the rest of the student body attended the Mass online through the MS Teams and Facebook Live platforms.

XUGS CHRISTMAS DRIVE 2021

Advance Christmas greetings to you!

Last December 2020, through your generosity, we were able to give gifts to our brothers and sisters in need in the Provincial Jail, those undergoing quarantine in the SEARSOLIN, and members of the XUGS community greatly affected by the pandemic. We were also able to raise funds which we donated to the victims of typhoons in Luzon through the Tanging Yaman Foundation.

Now that the Christmas Season is fast approaching, we once again appeal to your generous hearts to consider sparing some gifts for our brothers and sisters in need.

This year, we are adopting an IP School in Bukidnon that is in dire need of material and financial support. Your donation of books, magazines, school supplies, and learning materials will greatly help the student body it serves especially during this time of pandemic when the teachers and students alike have limited or no access to the internet. We also intend to give the IP community with food items and among other gifts.

We are also partnering with the San Ignacio Center for the Poor in the aim of providing food items to the socioeconomically underprivileged families and communities in Cagayan de Oro. Your donations of food items such as canned goods, noodles, milk, coffee, toiletries, and other household items.

Should you want to give monetary donations, kindly deposit it to GCash Account 09168537339 and indicate in the GCash message “XUGS Christmas Drive. For accounting purposes, please send a screenshot or copy of the transaction to xugs.cmo@gmail.com.

We thank you in advance for your generosity. We pray that you will join us in this undertaking of sharing Christ in the gifts we give.

God bless you!

ADVENT SEASON

The Advent Season marks the beginning of the Church's liturgical year. Derived from the Latin word 'adventus' which means 'coming' or 'arrival', it gives us an opportunity to prepare ourselves spiritually before the joyful Season of Christmas.

In observance Advent, aside from putting up Christmas decorations and lights, everyone in the community is called by the Holy Mother Church to have an Advent wreath at home as it increases our hope for the coming of Christ. By lighting up the advent candles, we are reminded to pray and prepare for His coming in our hearts.

To all members of XUGS community, send us photos of your Advent wreaths at home and we will feature them in this page.
