Mentoring Overview
According to the International Association of Coaches, Therapist, and Mentors, "Mentoring is a process of transmitting knowledge and skills from someone perceived to have greater relevant knowledge, wisdom, or experience to a person perceived to have less."
The Student Mentoring Program at the School of Education serves as a student support program in which students are paired with SOE teachers as mentors. This student mentoring program focuses not only on the academic aspect but as well as matters outside of the classroom. The mentorship on the teaching profession is the emphasis of the course embedded mentoring. While selected themes serve as a guide during semesters where there is no course-based mentoring.
