FELINES CHARACTERISTICS

Kind of felines

There are a lot of felines in the world. In this project we are going to talk about three of them: Jaguar, Lion and Cheetah. Although all of them are felines, they have peculiar differences:

  • Jaguar is the largest feline in America. He lives in the Amazon Forest.

  • Lion lives in the African Savannah. Lions are the kings of the jungle because of their raw power and strength. Male lions are much larger than females. However, female lions are the pride's primary hunters and leaders.

  • Cheetah is the fastest feline in the whole world. When cheetahs are running full speed, their stride (length between steps) is 6-7 meters (21 feet). Their feet only touch the ground twice during each stride.

Where do they live?

We used our creativity to show the habitat of felines. We drew the world because there are felines from different parts.

  • In America we can find the Jaguar, the largest feline on this continent. The Amazon rainforest is their natural habitat.

  • In Africa we can find the lion.

These examples are to make you understand that every animal has a habitat, which is not a zoo. Habitat is where animals and plants live in nature.

What do they eat? - Food chain

The food chain refers to the order of events in an ecosystem, where one living organism eats another organism, and later that organism is consumed by another larger organism.

Felines have no natural predators in the ecosystemmeaning they are at the top of the food chain.

They are always looking for fragile animals to chase. Usually, they eat large mammals like zebras, buffaloes and antelopes.

How can we help prevent the extinction of felines?

There are a few things that we can do to save endangered felines.

First of all, be aware of climate action.

Second, we need to reduce our impact on nature.

Third, we have to call the police if we see illegal activities with these animals.

Fourth, we can help as volunteers.

Finally, the cooperation of the whole society is very important to save these animals. If everyone does a little action we can change the world!

THE REASONS OF OUR PROJECT

How important is SDG 15: Life on Land?

A flourishing life on land is the foundation for our life on this planet. We are all part of the planet's ecosystem and we have caused severe damage to it through deforestation, loss of natural habitats and land degradation. Promoting a sustainable use of our ecosystems and preserving biodiversity is not a cause.

Why we wanted to do this project?

  • Raise awareness of the "Life on land" topic and show the life of felines.

  • Educate children in order to contribute to a better future for all.
