Keep up with Xmas Magic

Welcome to our website capturing our collaborative Christmas teaching adventure!

Welcome to our website, where we proudly present an innovative project that brings together Batxillerat students from Institut Torre del Palau from Terrassa and children as young as 4 and 5 years old from Escola Sant Jordi from Mollet del Vallès. Our firm belief is encapsulated in the phrase:

'Alone, we can do great things, but together, we can achieve the extraordinary!

Through this website, we aspire to share a humble yet powerful teaching proposal that has lasted 8 weeks of strong collaboration. We aim to offer simple & inspiring ideas, valuable resources, tips for teachers and motivation to support and enhance the exceptional work you do with your students, regardless of your location. Besides, you will find almost a 100 ArtificiaI intelligence resources for you to explore. Join us as we explore new horizons and collaborate to keep on creating impactful learning experiences! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Keep up with

Xmas magic!

Hello! This is Maria Mont and Àlex Bonet.  We are 2 English teachers who love teaching, working together and revamping education while using new and innovative resources, methods and ideas. We believe that interlevel projects keep up with motivation for our students helping them learn better, faster and TOGETHER!

But what is Keep up with Xmas magic?

It would be easy for us explain it, but we thought you would find it much more interesting if some of our Batxillerat students tell you all about... Besides, we make them speak in English with a real objective: to inspire other teachers from Catalonia to do unique teaching proposals with their students!

“Keep up with Xmas magic”, a crafted proposal that unites Tech, tale and inter-level learners.

What is the project about?

Listen to 12th graders talking about the learning scenario.

So, in a nutshell, this Xmas project means...

Inter-level teaching learning situation: Batxillerat & infant education from 2 public centers

Competential, innovative & significant learning

Experimenting with Artificial inteligence in the English classroom. Times are changing, so our teaching is too.

We are Maria Mont and Alexandra Bonet, and we teach English in two very different environments. That does not stop us from joining forces to create experiences which are unique and memorable.

Alexandra Bonet

Alexandra Bonet has been working as an EFL teacher since 1998. She has worked in both, language schools and state high schools. After travelling abroad to study English, she established herself in Terrassa, where she teaches English language to 1st and 2nd of ESO Students (year 8 and 9). She also deals with 2nd Batchillerat students (year 12)

She is really keen on project based learning with the use of the ICT. She is currently working in INS Torre del Palau where the computer based learning project started in 2000. She runs the ICT and Erasmus coordination, at the moment. Captivated as well by the new fashion, Gamification and GBL, and how this can be implemented in class making students be more aware of their own learning, she grew interested in Neuroscience and PBL too.

She has actively collaborated with UAB (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) and Associació de mestres Alexandre Galí in Terrassa, where sharing the findings and experiences with other teachers is the priority. She also worked as a Teacher Trainer for the Education Department in Catalonia.

Maria Mont

Maria Mont is an impassioned English teacher, translator, and interpreter with a rich tapestry of experiences. She boasts over 15 years of dedicated teaching experience at a state school in Spain. Maria's tenure was marked by innovative experimentation with ICT and telecollaborative projects in foreign language classrooms.

Her involvement extends beyond teaching; Maria actively coordinates various international and government-funded projects. She has been an esteemed teacher trainer and an adjunct professor at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She is also  currently an Etwinning moderator for the featured group Early Childhood education and Care. Maria's academic pursuits align with her passions, focusing on project-based language learning, gamification, early foreign language education, and the integration of 21st-century skills in teacher education. Complementing her vast expertise, Maria holds a master's in Education and ICT from the Open University of Barcelona, where her thesis received honors.

She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. from UAB, delving into the fusion of language teaching education and artificial intelligence within the educational sphere.
