ESCOLA SANT IGNASI.
WHERE ARE WE?
Our school is located in Manresa, at 1-3, Mestre Albages Street in the vicinity of “Plaça Catalunya”.
Although the school is a little bit hidden, the sightseeing is spectacular. The buildings are on the right side of Cardener River, in a sunny open place looking to Montserrat Mountain and Collbaix Hill.
WHO ARE WE?
We are a family school intimately linked to the town...
Our school is public, Catalan, innovative, inclusive and secular; it is open to the community and to the neighbourhood; it is involved in city projects and opened to the world around us.
The school must be the reflection of our surrounding where our pupils could find the same friends they meet on the square or on the streets.
Our society is plural, it has a great diversity of ideologies, nationalities, origins, cultures, social classes … to really educate in this richness of diversity the school must be working with the same patterns of our world.
The percentage of foreign students in our school is approximately 36%, although we must take into account that 80% of our students have a mother tongue different from Catalan or Spanish.
The school team (docents and no docents) looks forward to face up the challenges that represent the recent changes in our society. We want a school where the children feel confident to be heard and respected, where they can actively participate in their learning. Our school community thinks that our main goal is to educate the future citizens as critical thinking people, participative and compromised with their world.
We believe that teacher training and learning new techniques is paramount to be able to answer the current needs of our society and offer a quality education to our kids. Therefore we decided to start this course to be better prepared to implement CLIL in our school.
