Today was our third day of Erasmus+ mobility in Viana do Castelo. Today we started the day going to the Middle School where we attended a Spanish lesson with students of 11th grade. We participated in the lesson by sharing a presentation we prepared to share our culture, history, traditions and language. Then we did the same with students of 12th grade. It was really nice to get in touch with the students.
At the end of both presentations we did a musical activity which consisted of listening to a catalan song and we made the students translate the lyrics of the song into Spanish in groups. Each group had a verse of the song to translate. They did it pretty well and we ended up singing the song all together. One of the girls in the class was preparing herself to go to a musical TV programme called The Voice as she is very good at singing and she sang two really nice songs to us. It was a charming experience. At the end of each lesson we read one of the books we brought from Catalonia to give to the school library. The children were fascinated with the story.
Then we had a small break and attended a Portuguese literature lesson where the students of 11th grade made an oral presentation about the most relevant authors of their literature from the different periods in history. From the middle ages till nowadays. It was a pleasure to learn about.
In the afternoon we attend a Music and Citizenship lesson and saw the activity they call "Livro à mâo" (book at hand) and a "DAC (Dominios Autonomia Curricular'' which is a cross curricular project each class develops once a year. In the lesson the pupils of 5th grade were working on the Sustainable Development Goals and the teacher made them focus on the Goal 2: zero hanger. They watched a video and talked about this goal. After the class we had the opportunity to have a meeting with Fátima who is the Music and Citizenship teacher and the coordinator of Citizenship lessons at Middle School grades.
It was such an interesting and enriching day.
