Different environments are homes to different species that have adapted over time to live in that ecosystem.
The ecosystem around XP is urban (meaning built up with buildings). The species around the school are mostly urban species such as birds like blackbirds that can survive in built up towns.
However there are some grassy areas and the lakeside nearby which is why you see rabbits, hares and foxes from time to time.
