More great work from Isla as she helps her little sister to swim.
Isla has also taken time to thank her aunty for looking after her dog.
These are all great examples from Isla that epitomise what it means to show integrity:
being true to yourself - even if it means going against the grain
having the courage to be honest
doing the right thing even when no one is watching
Brilliant examples Isla!
This is a really brilliant way to sum up what respect means for Isla. We know that Isla gave her sister lots of support when she was doing the pier jump. It looks like you're having a great time Isla, and thanks for keeping out character traits in your mind too. Great work!
It is really clear that Leon has made the link between crew and respect for each other - great handwriting too Leon!
And holy smokes, now we have Batman in our beautiful work too! With the Joker as his enemy, you're in good company in not liking clowns Leon.
This is a really creative way to present your character. Brilliant work.
There is so much going on in this work from Finley, the care taken over the colouring and multiple patterns are great, but we especially like "I can do anything that I put my mind to".
This is a great attitude, well done Finley!
It is really clear that a lot of thought and care has gone into this artefact from Macie.
It's great to see students demonstrating great craftsmanship and quality in these artefacts.
First class work Macie, well done!
We love how this artefact is based on Isabelle's interests, but the foundation of it all are the people most important to Isabelle!
Great work Isabelle.
This is such a brilliantly structured piece of writing from Macie. The paragraph in conclusion does such a great job of summarising what has been said and linking this to our character traits.
What shines through in all of this piece are the concrete examples of how Macie shows her superpowers, from butterfly lessons to speaking out in class, and asking others if they are feeling OK. What a treat it will be for someone to be lucky enough to be in Macie's crew. Fantastic work Macie!
#wearecrew
#wearexpateshead indeed!
Wow, we know you are going to do brilliantly at XP Holly. What a great thing to be able to say about yourself that you are "joyful" and "enthusiastic". What a lucky person to be in our crew, to have you encouraging them to keep going, whether it be out in the field or in some challenging academic work. The silhouette of the dancer in this artwork is really striking. Liking camping is always a bonus too. 😉
There are two things that really stand our in this design. Firstly the consistent colour scheme and frog theme on the front and back make this a really professional postcard. Secondly the combination of two fonts and the drop shadow for the 'Thank you' is really impressive. Beautiful work Holly.
It really is wonderful to see students taking the time to thank their expert family members, and we're so pleased that families are getting a chance to say such great things about and to each other.
Well done Oliver for attempting the challenge yourself tasks here. We agree completely that as a crew it's important to "support each other" through both the "fun and hard times without judging individuals". Very well put young man!
This artefact from Oliver really captures his interests, and we're really impressed that Oliver has said that he wants to help others be the "best that they can be". That is exactly what it means to be Crew in our book!
The structure of Daniel's writing gives really clarity to his answer. Each paragraph has a clear topic phrase to introduce one of his strengths and then the writing goes on to talk about how this will help others. This gives the writing real purpose.
We love the tension in this writing about Pompeii too. In particular there are some really strong short sentences that have a real dramatic effect: "It was a race against time." for example.
Check out these brilliant postcard designs from Sonny to his Nanny and Granny. Jackson Pollock would be proud of these. What a brilliant idea. The contrast between the deep crimson and the lime green is really striking.
It's fantastic to see Sonny completing the challenge yourself sections too. We think he has really captured what it means to be crew when he says that we 'are always there for one another' and that we are 'kind, helpful and thoughtful'.
Finley has picked out specific examples of Miss Pegg's writing to help start to plan his answer to our guiding question. He has also attempted the challenge yourself section of his planner too, this is great to see Finley.
And above here too, a lovely example of being thankful to our experts, which I know made Finley's dad's day too.
Wowser, this a fantastic super hero artefact demonstrating Evan's curiosity.
We like a student that asks lots of questions.
A super superhero. Super work Evan!
Alfie has produced this wonderful tree with our character traits.
We really like the used of mixed media and the care taken over the individual smaller branches and leaves.
Beautiful work Alfie!
It was so wonderful to hear so many appreciations in our community meeting. So I know that Alfie's dad will be really grateful to Alfie too, for taking the time to say thank you. It really does make a difference when we take time to appreciate each other. Great work Alfie!
This wonderfully colourful artefact really captures Isla's passion for swimming, but the colours also give a sense of Isla's adventurous spirit too.
It's great to see our character traits being reflected upon really deeply here too with examples of how Isla shows each one.
Fantastic work Isla!
Daniel has designed a respectful postcard to say thanks to his Mam for being his expert. We really like the combination and contrast of the strong line and tonal shading on the mountains using the pencil point, and then the smudged lighter tones too.
This is a really smart design to include lots of Daniel's interests and traits in his artefact.
Great to see mention of our character traits here too.
And yes... Asterix is great. Obelix is the funniest though 😉.
Superb stuff Daniel!
Harris has been thinking really carefully about his strengths in relation to our character traits.
It's clear from this that Harris is really helpful when it comes to his family.
Great work Harris!
What courage it takes to admit when you are worried about something. Great determination Lucy: "I will go".
Our favourite part of this work from Macie is the excellent vocabulary used. "Acknowledge what they say" is a great phrase. Well done Macie! It sounds like you've really thought carefully about your interview and showing respect to your expert (your mam 😁).
Macie is really making good use of the models to help her to plan her answer to the guiding question.
She is challenging herself to name lots of her strengths.
We can't wait to see your final draft Macie!
It's clear here that Isabelle is developing a great understanding of what it means to be crew. She's going to be a brilliant crew member.
"everyone must express themselves and work hard"
Fantastic stuff Isabelle.
What great craftsmanship and quality is on display here from Isabelle too. She really wanted to share a piece of homework that she is really proud of.
We really like how Isabelle has taken the time to answer these questions fully. In question 2 there are area variety of phrases to start each sentence to make it clear that this is a list:
"As well as that..."
"Another power.."
This is a great example of being aware of the types of sentences that you are writing across a whole paragraph. Brilliant work Isabelle.
