To enable our Sec 1 students to know the school and build friendships, we have planned a first week of school programme from Thursday, 2 January to Friday, 10 January 2025, including a 4D2N cohort camp from Monday, 6 January to Thursday, 9 January. Here is the schedule:

To ensure that your child/ward has the necessary camping equipment such as sleeping bags, Adventure World will be at Xinmin Secondary on 3rd and 6th January 2025. You may choose to order the items online via the pre-order form, or inform your child/ward to purchase on-site.

Full Name (as in Birth Certificate). To help us with our records, please ensure to fill in your child's/ward's full name as indicated on his/her Birth Certificate.
Dietary Requirements. We will be catering food for your child/ward during the 4D2N residential component.
Cohort Shirt Size. There will be a cohort shirt for your child/ward (size chart can be found in Annex A below). If we do not receive any information, the default shirt size will be taken to be 'M'.
Swimming Ability. As there will be water activities, please indicate your child's/ward's swimming ability. Students will be briefed on camp instructions and administrative matters (e.g. attire/items to bring etc.) on the first day of school.
Attendance for Sec 1 Parent Engagement and Campfire & Finale Night. To assist us with our planning, please let us know if you will be attending (more details can be found in the next section).
Our school days begin at 7:30 a.m., except on Thursdays when school starts at 8:30 a.m. Students should be at the assembly venue by 7:25 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and by 8:25 a.m. on Thursdays. On the first day of school, Thursday, 2 January, students should be at the Parade Square at 8:25 a.m.
Your child/ward should report in half school uniform (PE T-shirt and school pants/skirt). Please bring along PE shorts. Students may wear their primary school PE uniform if they have not purchased their secondary school uniform.
Your child/ward will need to bring a water bottle, writing materials (pen and paper), colouring pencils, markers and pocket money for recess and lunch.
Textbooks will only be needed from Monday, 13 January onwards.

We warmly invite all Sec 1 parents and guardians to join us in school for a Parent Engagement Session with our Form Teachers, Key Personnel, and School Leaders.

Venue: Classrooms and Multi-Purpose Hall
We also warmly invite all Sec 1 parents and guardians to stay on and join us for the Campfire & Finale Night from 6:20 p.m. to 8:20 p.m., which is a celebration of your child's/ward's experience in the first week of school. Refreshments will be provided for parents. Parents can also explore the many food options around the school (food options near Xinmin are in Annex B below).
We will start off the night with a Cohort Shirt Presentation Ceremony. Your child/ward will receive his/her Cohort Shirt, and we warmly invite parents/guardians to be part of this ceremony by presenting the shirt to your child/ward. All classes will also be putting up a campfire performance to showcase their experiences over the past week. The schedule of the Campfire & Finale Night will be sent to all parents through Parents Gateway by the end of December 2024.

2. Turn left and follow the sheltered walkway towards Hougang Avenue 8.
3. At the next zebra crossing, turn right and you will reach the coffee shop.

2. Follow the path and keep walking straight. You may take a short cut through the HDB blocks (658, 660, 661, 662).
3. You will reach Hougang Avenue 9. Cross the road at the traffic light and you will reach Ci Yuan Hawker Centre.
