The X.T.A.R. Young Entrepreneurs' Project Showcase started out as a 3 day small business simulation that 4th grade students completed in their gifted classes. In more recent years, the Showcase has grown to become an annual community event where student teams brainstorm products, pitch a business plan to secure a loan, make the product and sell it to community members. Customers buy XTAR currency to purchase the items. The first ten percent of money brought in is donated back to a charity the students vote on. The remaining money is used to pay it forward to the next group of fourth graders to purchase the necessary supplies and equipment for their Showcase.
