Inspiring Girls - tuition free expeditions to conduct science research in Alaska! Due Jan 31, 2018
Maintain an "I Love Me Google Doc" to log your volunteer work, extra curricular projects, awards, and anything you do that you are proud of or is otherwise noteworthy. Many girls (and women) tend to under-value their achievements and contributions. This will help you keep track so you can write about it when applying for another job. Also, your "I Love Me Google Doc" can be a source of inspiration when you hit a setback or a low-self-esteem day.
Go to class. If nothing else, go to class. It is the most important single-thing you can do to assure your success in college. If you are like most students, you can't afford to miss.
You might wish to calculate how much you are paying for each class session and then ask yourself if sleeping-in is worth it. For example, assume you are a student at ASU/Barrett. Your annual cost of attendance is approximately $27,000 (in-state tuition, 2016 dollars). Assume you are taking 30 credits a year - to make the math easy, let's call that 10 3-credit hour classes. That probably equals 450 class hours (3 hours per week per class times 15 weeks per semester). Therefore, your cost per class meeting is $27,000/450, or $60 for each class session. Is that how you want to spend your money?
Stick with the winners. Are your friends going to class and doing their homework? Surround yourself with successful people and you are more likely to be successful. If your friends are not fully engaged in their success, consider cultivating some friendships with people who would make good study partners instead.
