  • The Department has also collaborated with various BMC schools and rural colleges to promote chemistry amongst students.

Xavier's Association of Chemistry

Xavier's Association of Chemistry (XAC) was founded in the year 2003. XAC aims at fostering interaction between students at different levels between themselves, faculty and eminent chemists from various other institutions. Its objective is to inculcate a deeper love and interest for chemistry. XAC was initiated by a few T.Y. students to enthuse more students to enjoy the subject beyond the classroom and laboratory. XAC gives our students opportunities to hone several skills and talents which are absolutely necessary to get holistic development as young adults.

XAC activities include an annual inter-collegiate chemistry competition which is generally in collaboration with Chemistry Club of South Mumbai Colleges (CCSMC), a conclave wherein several eminent chemists from institutions like TIFR, IIT and BARC are invited to talk to the students and share their expertise in their niche fields of chemistry. There is an annual seminar conducted at Khandala where students are trained in various soft skills apart from chemistry, so as to catalyse their holistic growth in accordance with the objectives of XAC.
