Dr. MCGETTRICK BARTHOLOMEW

A former Dean of the Faculty of Education and Professor of Christian Education at Liverpool Hope University, Professor Bart McGettrick is Emeritus Professor of Education and Dean Emeritus, of the Faculty of Education at the University of Glasgow. A Chair of the International Board of Regents of Bethlehem University, Palestine, he is President of The Holy Land Commission of The Order of The Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and of the Association of Catholic Institutes for the Study of Education (ACISE) – the sectorial group of The International Federation of Catholic Universities. He is a Patron of the International Values Education Trust. Among the honours he holds are: the OBE for services to education in the UK and overseas; “Ex Corde Ecclesiae” Medal of the International Federation of Catholic Universities; Knight Grand Cross of the Order of The Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem; as well as honorary doctorates from several universities in the UK and USA.

Dr. Avijith Pathak, professors at Centre for the Study of Social Systems, School of Social Sciences, specializes in Sociology of Modernization, Social Theory and Sociology of Education has 23 years of experience in teaching and research. His best peer reviewed publications include Indian Modernity: Contradictions, Paradoxes and Possibilities, Social Implications of Schooling: Knowledge, Pedagogy and Consciousness, Modernity, Globalization and Identity: Towards a Reflexive Quest and Recalling the Forgotten: Education and Moral Quest.

Prof Gwen van der Velden

Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor (Student Experience) at the University of Warwick.

Professor Gwen van der Velden

Gwen van der Velden is the Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor (Student Experience) at the University of Warwick. Alongside her institutional work, Gwen took part in the drafting of the QAA (Quality Assurance Agency) Code of Practice chapter on student engagement, and undertook research and published on institutional engagement with student agency. In 2016 Gwen completed a doctorate on institutional engagement with students in alternative providers. Gwen intends to look for ways to ensure that in a more regulatory environment students and staff maintains ownership of learning and teaching processes. She wants to learn from international partnerships how this can be achieved and involve as many of her colleagues and their students as possible in developing innovative approaches to authentic curriculum and assessment practices.

Director - Education, Microsoft India

In his role Srinivas Garimella works with educators, students, educational institutions, and educational stakeholders to realize Microsoft global vision of “empowering every student on the planet to achieve more”. He believes that technology alone will not help improve teaching and learning, simply computerizing will not produce better learning unless we cultivate leadership, culture of innovation, and build capacities. He works with leading institutions on their digital transformation journeys, skills, and employability programs. He represents Microsoft in various industry and advisory forums. Most recently he was a committee member of Maharashtra Higher Education on cyber security curriculum. Prior to this role Srinivas was involved in setting up Microsoft smart city practice in India. He has over 23 years of experience in information technology industry providing consultancy and solutions.
