Welcome everyone! I hope that you all had a great summer. We are going to have a BLAST IN BAND this year. This sheet will help you get off to a great start.
I am Mrs. Ninnemann. Yes, that rhythms with Cinnamon to help you pronounce my very long name. I teach the 5th and 6th Grade bands here at Xavier Middle School.
Please take a look at the COVID in the Band Room section of this letter. In order to make band class the safest it can be at XMS, while at the same time keeping the course fulfilling and fun.

INSTRUMENT STORAGE AT SCHOOL
Each band morning please bring your instrument to the Band Room before going to the cafeteria.
Take them home!! Your instrument can only be left in school ONE night each week.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Lessons Begin >> week of August 30th (I will get a schedule to you before then.)
WEEKLY PRACTICE CHART
We will keep a weekly practice chart.
Practice Goal >> 60 minutes total for the week. >> What amazing things can you play for me at your first lesson.
BOOKS WE WILL USE (The same ones you used last year.) PLEASE make sure they are brought to school next week.

PLEASE make sure that you have all books and supplies for lessons and full group rehearsal next week.

COVID - 19 Safety in the Band Room (2021 - 2022)
Dear Parents,
Our safety procedures are very similar to last year in our Xavier System. All needed supplies will be provided at school.
BAND ROOM SETUP:
We have a large room which allows proper air flow.
Chairs will be 6 feet apart (with extra chairs for those who wish more distancing.)
ROOM CLEANING:
We will continue to spray down our surfaces several times each day.
BRASS CONDENSATION:
Brass players will be asked to either use and Absorbent Pad or our designated
Brass Bucket.
CARE OF PERSONAL INSTRUMENT
Students should wash mouth pieces and cleaning rags weekly.
BELL COVERS
We will use Bell Covers in 6th Grade Band.
They will be provide for your child
MASKING WHILE PLAYING:
6th Grade Band will be given a Slitted Mask (mask with a slit cut for the mouthpiece.)
Students may choose to play with there mouthpiece in the slit.
They may slide their mouthpiece under there normal mask.
Pull their mask down while playing and musk up when not playing.
PERCUSSION EQUIPMENT:
Students should use their personal sticks and mallets.
(Some larger mallets and auxiliary percussion will be needed. These will be sanitized after use.)
