Advanced Chinese ships with curved, triangular sails, multiple masts, and watertight compartments. They often had flat bottoms for river travel.

Used during the Song Dynasty.

Allowed sailors to travel farther, trade more efficiently, navigate rivers and seas safely, and inspired shipbuilding elsewhere.
