Shapes & Colour

Statement

This project I will be researching and experimenting with shapes and colour. Looking into how colours change how a certain piece feels, experimenting with contrasting colours alongside different shapes and angles. I will also be including the idea of space on how it changes our focus forcing our eyes on certain aspects of the piece - idea of empty spaces or dense areas.

Originally, I focused on the theme of framing, how things we view are captured within a still or moving image. Different shapes placed in a way to make us view a piece differently, however, I extended/broadened the idea to the concept of shapes alongside colour. I feel like colour is a big part of how we perceive everyday items and even our surroundings. Experimenting with contrasting colours or even colours that work quite well in the colour wheel; colours also connect to our emotions and how we express our feelings. I want to produce a series that incorporates a variety of skills/techniques but constricting myself to the main theme. Techniques include the use of collages, space, reflection, photomanipulation and using macro lenses.

I plan on exploring further into colour theory and how it effects the way we see a certain photograph; I can achieve this by experimentation and by enhancing them. Also incorporating props or items that can help further push the theme/idea as such using mirrors, hand held objects, flowers and fruits.

By the end of this project, I hope to achieve my set targets and also the target of producing 100 enhanced images alongside 20 final photographs that I think best expresses each of the artists and that overall reflects the theme of this project.
