CONGRATULATIONS! You have made an important academic step in challenging yourself by enrolling in AP World History (WHAP). WHAP is a college level course that covers everything you need to know that transpired from the start of human existience!
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE LIGHTLY!
Success in this course has less to do with one's intelligence and more to do with...
Work Ethic
Time Management
Study Skills
Advocacy Skills
Participation
If you are confident in your ability to rise to the challenge I am excited to have you in class! Follow the directions below to get started on the summer assignments.
-Mr. Hughes
Directions:
WHAP summer work is comprised of three total assignments (4 documents, 4 readings, and several videos)— ALL ARE DUE AND MUST BE SUBMITTED (VIA GOOGLE FORM IN EACH PAGE) BY AUGUST 16th 11:59 PM. Late work loses 10% per day. I recommend spacing out the assignments throughout the summer (e.g. complete one assignment in June, one in July, and one in August)- Though there are three assignments, four total documents will be submitted. Assignments can be found navigating the "assignments" pages in the top right corner of this website. Make sure to make a copy of each assignment AND allow me access to view your document.
Within the first week or two of school, a quiz will be assigned based on the summer work. These tasks are meant to provide a background knowledge on World History before 1250 CE and build essential skills for the year ahead.
All work must be completed individually. Tools like ChatGPT may be used for brainstorming or clarification, but answers must reflect individual understanding. Copying from AI, online sources, or classmates is plagiarism and will result in a zero.
