NEW - Wyoming has instituted regulations and application process for Private Fire Prevention and Qualified Insurance Approved Resources. Regulations & Application
FIRE UPDATE: 8/21/2026
The West Coal Creek Fire, Campbell County, is mapped at 896 acres, firing operations were completed yesterday. Fire progression has been stopped and there is black all the way around it. There is still a couple of days worth of mop up and securing to be completed. Gannett Peak Module is assigned to this incident. 5FS, Wyoming State's Type 2 helicopter, has been released. This incident is on BLM, private and state lands. State and BLM SEATs flew multiple loads on this incident
Red Canyon Fire in Crook County, is 28 acres and still in mop up. The fire did not grow yesterday but getting the fire secured and mopped up has proven to be more difficult that expected. Pronghorn Module is still engaged on this Incident and will be through at least end of shift tomorrow. This incident is all private land.
The South Weston Fire, Campbell County is mapped at 20 acres and also in mop up with progression stopped. 2FS, Wyoming State's Type 3 helicopter, was assigned, but has been released. This fire is all BLM
WSFD has no resources on the Softwater Draw Fire, Campbell County, 60 acres, it is all BLM, The Casper SEATs flew on this incident.
Fire Restrictions:
21 Counties will be under some level of fire restrictions as of today. Only Big Horn and Washakie Counties will not be under fire restrictions.
The Bridger-Teton National Forest went under Stage 1 fire restrictions.
All BLM lands are now under Stage 1 fire restrictions
The Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest will go under Stage 1 fire restrictions.
