The Council’s employment efforts focus on five key priorities:
Goal 1: Connect Individuals to Employment Resources and Services – Provide clear pathways to trusted employment resources and partner agencies that support individuals with developmental disabilities in pursuing meaningful work. This includes connecting individuals and families with services such as Vocational Rehabilitation, Job Accommodation Network (JAN), Employment First initiatives, and other workforce partners.
Goal 2: Provide Practical Tools for Job Seekers – Offer accessible guidance and resources that help individuals prepare for employment, including assistance with completing job applications, preparing resumes, understanding workplace expectations, and building interview skills.
Goal 3: Promote Workplace Readiness and Professional Skills – Share information and tools that support workplace readiness, including professional dress, communication skills, and strategies for successfully navigating the hiring process.
Goal 4: Increase Awareness of Employment Opportunities and Supports – Help individuals, families, employers, and community partners better understand available employment supports and programs that promote competitive, integrated employment across Wyoming.
Goal 5: Strengthen Partnerships that Support Employment – Promote collaboration among agencies, service providers, employers, and community organizations to expand employment opportunities and ensure individuals have access to the supports they need to succeed in the workforce.
