On March 9th, the Whitewater High School FFA brought back Donkey Basketball. The community came together to not only have a great time but for something even bigger. The event became a fundraiser for two students in the Whitewater School District. The communities from near and far came to support their families and rallied together to raise $1,000 for each family.

Whitewater FFA alumni 30th annual farm toy show
What a day – we got another toy show in the books. First off, I want to thank all the people in the background; without you, we could not have pulled this off.
Thank you Alice in Dairyland for coming.
A big thank you to all the businesses that donated to the show with door prizes and funds to support our show.
A big thank you to Whitewater Culver’s for the scoopie coupons; I wish you were there to see the kids’ faces. PRICELESS.
A big thanks to the vendors and the people that set up displays. A lot of hard work went in to them.
And thank you to all the people that came to look, buy and visit with us; this makes the day worthwhile.
Many thanks.

Estes Park, Colorado
Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo in Cheyenne, WY
On Wednesday, July 20th, the Whitewater FFA officers united together at Whitewater High School to embark on an adventure of a lifetime. We departed from Madison Airport and made our way to Denver, Colorado. We arrived at our lodge in Estes Park and were greeted with the amazing Colorado scenery. We knew we were in for a treat when just a half mile away we saw 50+ elk. Thursday, July 21st, we made our way to Rocky Mountain National Park. Our officer team hiked the Emerald Lake trail, which took us about 4 miles and 700 feet in elevation. It was hard to keep moving, as the views were breathtaking. Every step we took looked like a postcard. Later that evening we returned to the lodge to prepare for the upcoming year and events. Friday, July 22nd, our officer team loaded up and traveled to Fort Collins, Colorado. We arrived at “Moutain Whitewater.”
After having lunch and a short safety lesson, we kicked off our Whitewater rafting adventure. We assembled in our rafts and started our voyage. The views were incredible. Along the journey, we spotted many species of wildlife, including rocky mountain goats gazing down at us from a small cliff. Whitewater rafting was an absolute thrill for everyone. Saturday, July 23rd, started at 4:30 A.M. We re-entered Rocky Moutain National Park, hoping to see a moose. Though we were unsuccessful the views once again did not disappoint. Later that morning we set off for Cheyenne, Wyoming, to see the opening of Cheyenne Frontier Days. The rodeo was full of excitement and suspense.
The night was followed by a great performance from Dierks Bentley. Sunday, July 24th, our team finished its annual planning for the upcoming year. We all enjoyed some leisure and bonding time. Later that afternoon we headed into town for some shopping and tourist attractions. Monday, July 25th, we packed up our bags and said goodbye to Estes Park. We traveled to Denver once again and before we knew it we were back in Wisconsin.
Our trip could not have been possible without the following people: FFA Advisor Paul Majors, FFA Alumni, and Donna Sherman.
We would also like to give an extra thank you to the FFA Alumni and Donna Sherman for their donations and funds for our trip and other events throughout the year.
The WHS FFA & NHS are hosting a fundraising event for Aiden Wiedenhoeft at Culver’s in Whitewater on Monday, May 16 from 4 – 7 pm. A percentage of the proceeds that evening will be donated to his family to help pay his medical expenses. Please have supper at Culver’s on Monday night and donate while you dine! Thank you so much!
Recently, the Whitewater FFA gave a $2000 check to the Whitewater Breakfast Kiwanis Club. Last spring the Whitewater FFA decided to donate the profits from the plant sale to Kiwanis to support the We Go Round project. The We Go Round Project is adding an accessible playground feature at Starin Park.
In honor of FFA week and their ongoing support, the Whitewater Culver’s donated $500 to the Whitewater FFA.
The FFA Alumni Farm Toy Show will be this Sunday, February 27th from 9-2:30 at Whitewater High School. Farm toys will be available for purchase and farm displays will be set up for your viewing enjoyment. Admission is $3 for age 11 and older. The proceeds help fund scholarships and provide other support to the FFA members throughout the year. A food stand will be open throughout the day.
