Computer Science, Math, and Robotics
I began teaching in Whitewater in the fall of 1993 after graduating from UW Oshkosh with a major in secondary education mathematics and a minor in computer science. Teaching was the only thing I ever wanted to do, and in choosing this career I followed in the footsteps of two of my older sisters. Whitewater was the perfect choice for me. The creativity and willingness to innovate on the part of the staff along with the wonderful feeling of community immediately made Whitewater feel like home. I couldn't think of a better place to be!
Students compete annually in the contests at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (fall) and Marquette University (spring). Students also annually compete in Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge. The competitions are open to any WHS student, not just those currently enrolled in a computer science course.
Where are they now, and how did they get there? Follow the journeys of a few of our WHS graduates in the world of computer science. Want to add your profile to this page and help our current students see what they can do? Email lmasbruch@wwusd.org
WHS FIRST Robotics Competition Team #6574 was founded in the fall of 2016, and is open to any Whitewater High School student. The team is about so much more than robots, and all students are welcome! If you would like to help support the team with a donation, visit our PayPal donation site or contact lmasbruch@wwusd.org.

Annually, the National Center for Women and Information Technology honors young women who show an interest and promise for a future in computer science. Each fall, female and non-binary students are encouraged to apply for the award at aspirations.org. Award winners become part of an incredible support network that can enhance the availability of future opportunities in the field. Pictured with Ms. Masbruch are 2022 award winners Guin Yeager and Brooke Bazeley.
