Tuesday, July 29 - Day 2: Rocks as storytellers – what do they tell us about past eruptions? (field trip to Artists Point)
Wednesday, July 30 - Day 3: Rocks as storytellers – how do we prepare for future eruptions? (field Trip to Baker Lake)
Thursday, July 31- Day 4: Doing the work of volcanologists (group projects at WWU)
Friday, August 1 - Day 5: Doing the work of volcanologists (group projects at WWU)
Saturday, August 2 - Day 6: How do we know that Koma Kulshan is a volcano? HALF DAY - Sharing our stories with family and friends (at WWU - event where families and friends are welcome!)
Daily Schedule:
The instructors are planning a course that will occur from ~9-5pm every day for a total of 6 days.
Field trip days might start earlier or end later. All field trips will depart from the WWU Campus. Please be prepared for minor changes in the schedule!
Expectations:
Students are expected to be present for all portions of the course.
Students will be compensated for their time participating in the course. Accepted participants will receive a stipend for 6 full-time days of work at the end of the course ($650 is expected, but subject to change).
*Information about housing in Bellingham will be provided upon acceptance to the institute.
