The Maze of Life
I am running down the road towards the old hotel following Jack and Jim. There’s a catch, I’m also being chased down by a mutated hog.
“I can’t catch my breath!” I pant.
“Adam get over here!” yells Jim.
“What?”Adam asks.
Jim says, “There's an old building that has fallen over and we need to get over it.”
I quickly pick up Jack and Jim and lift them over the building and then jump over. I’m the brawns, Jack is the brains ,and Jim, well he is the athletic one.
Once we get over the building we look back and see that the hog is stuck on the other side due to his miniature legs. We start to run towards the next corner when we see two of the other contestants running in our direction.
Jack yells, “What are you running from?”
“Nothing! It’s what we’re running towards!” Shouts one of the kids.
The other kids run off and Jack says, “Let’s follow them, they may lead us closer the the end of the maze.”
Maybe they’re leading us into a trap, Jim thought.
“Just be careful it may be a trap,” Says Adam.
“I was thinking the same thing,” Jim says
“Just be on the lookout,” whispers Jack.
After we think about it, we decide not to follow them.
“Because we won’t be figuring out the maze if we follow them, they will.” I say.
I look to my left and see an old hidden door and I walk over to it. It looks like is has recently been opened, so I opened it, luckily it was unlocked, I walk in. Jack and Jim follow close behind. It is an old room with a light on in the back.
“Be careful.” Jack says.
I walk over and it’s a note, I open it up and it says take 2 lefts and a right.
I think about it for a second and run back outside to the maze and I shout back, “follow me!”
I do as the writing says and it brings us to a three way intersection.
Jack says that we should look around for another door or hiding place for another clue.
I look around and see a building covered in vines, but at the bottom there's a patch of vines cut out. I notice it is a vent, but there are no screws holding it in. I show Jack and Jim, and Jack walks over and opens it and there's another clue.
It says, take 1 right then a left and another right. When we run in the direction we come to find a bridge, but it is broken. We’ll have to cross the river.
“It has water snakes!” Yells Jack.
“We can’t cross it.” Says Jim.
“We haven't spent our whole lives competing in C.I.A challenges just to quit now!” I say.
We all decide we will swim to the other side.
“It will be a nice swim anyways, since we’re in the middle of Florida in this burning hot 85 degree sunshine.” I say.
“But how will we deal with the snakes?” Asks Jack.
I say, “Does anybody have food left?”
Jack says, “I do.”
I tell him to throw it as far as he can then jump in and swim as fast as he can to the other side.
Jack throws it and and the snakes swim towards the food. We jump in and start swimming, but then the snakes start swimming back towards us. They’ve almost reached us when we crawl out of the water without a second to spare.
We follow the clue, and we come to another junction look around. We look around and only see a mailbox leaning against a building. We walk over and open it and sure enough, there's another note that says take two rights and a left. We follow it without a problem, and come to another three way junction.
“There’s a slight breeze coming from ahead!” Says Jack.
“We might be near the end, the breeze could be flowing from the end of the maze.” Says Jim.
“Let’s follow it.” I say.
We keep following the breeze and and we come to a junction, we look to our left and we all see is two kids running from the left to right, though we are only getting a glimpse of them.
So we keep following the breeze and we come around the corner and see the sign. The End. We run toward the exit when we see the other two kids run out in front of us and to the end of the maze.
“How did they get here faster than us? We were going as fast as we could throughout the maze!” Jack asks.
We were all very sad and decided to head home.
That night we all got a call and said we officially won, the others had cheated and followed us the whole way to the end and tricked us with the last note. They deleted the first left and made it into a right so it threw us off. It was lucky we caught the breeze and followed it to the end otherwise we wouldn’t have finished.
She asks if we want to become the next generation of undercover C.I.A agents.
“We would be honored!” We all say.
