“Wake up Brian it's time for school,” said Brian's mom as Brian rolls off his bed very sluggishly.

“And don't forget about the game tonight,” Brian’s mom said, as Brian walks out of his apartment as he walks he listens to music and thinks about his dad. His dad went to prison when he was young his dad was white and his mom was black. He remembers his mom telling him that his dad was the schools basketball star and so is Brian. He is a small forward and he is 6,4 and 190 pounds of muscle with blonde hair and blue eyes . He is a senior at Renaissance High School.

"Brian, Brian, Brian! "

“Yeah,” said Brian as he looks up at the science teacher Mr. Smith

“I know there's a lot on your mind with the finals being tonight, but can you try to pay attention,”

“Yeah, sorry Mr. Smith,” Brian responds.

Mr. Smith continues talking about the periodic table. The whole team is in the locker room and the coach is talking about the game plan.

“And stay aggressive out there.”

“Yes coach,” says the team.

"Ok starters, warm ups jackets off and lets go get a win." Renaissance won the jump against some team from Chicago Brian's never heard of. The center tips the ball to Brian and the team gets into position. A couple passes go in; then right before the shot clock runs out, the point guard and Brian's best friend Sammy Young lobs up a alley oop to Brian for the dunk Sammy is 5 ft. 9 inches, 150 pounds has dark skin and short hair and talks a whole lot of trash which sometimes gets him in trouble.

It's now the 4th quarter and the games tied 68-68 and there's 45 seconds left on the clock and the away team has the ball the point guard is bringing up the ball and Brian's team center gets tripped and that leaves the away team center to get a easy lay up the coach tells Brian to take up the ball with 22 seconds left on the clock the need to run the clock out a little bit there's now 10 second left on the clock and the shooting guard on the away team team gets fouled for 2 free throws and makes them both. The coach calls for Sammy to run a play with the game tied 72-72 for an open three for him to get the win so he runs it and he fumbles the ball and Brian gets it 5 seconds on the clock he dribbles around the three line 3! 2! 1! Brian shoots at one before the buzzer while getting double teamed and it bounce twice and goes in.

The crowd is screaming! The team runs at Brian; they won the championship. Brian ended the game with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assist there were a lot of college scouts at the game and they all noticed Brian.

A few months later…

"I chose my college" said Brian to Sammy

“Same” said Sammy"

" I'm going to UCLA" said Brian

“I am too" said Sammy.

"My moms moving to California with me" said Brian

“NCAA don't know what's coming,”.

A month before college starts…

“Sammy can you get that for me” said Brian's mom

"Are you boys ready to move into campus you guys are gonna be roommates,”

“Yeah I can't wait to get back to playing,” said Brian

“ lets go walk around the city and gets some food, we’ll be back mom”

“OK boys be careful,” they walk around and talk to a group of girls and tells them that there gonna Carrie on Lonzo ball's legacy but win march madness and the girls ask them if they wanna go to the movies with them and some of the guys on the team and they go so they can meet the team.

“Are you guys ready for this season,” said one of the guys on the team

“Why are you asking them that they probably won't even play i mean look at this one,” pointing to Sammy “he's like not even 6 foot,”

"And who are you" said Sammy

“they call me ATM,”

“Oh why because your skills ain't ready at the moment.”Everyone laughs,

“Man i’m outta here,”

“See ya when we taking your spots on the starting lineups,” said Brian as ATM and his friends on the team walk off angrily.

Practice

“All right,” yells the coach

“Power forwards and centers over there and guards and small forwards over with Coach D,”

“ATM’s a guard so he was with us talking about something about how we ain't even gonna play five minutes a game.”

“yo don't let that fool get to you just go do what you do best,” said Sammy

“Alright let's get it,” said Brian

A week later…

“Ok here is the starting line ups,” at the one Sammy young, at the five James Smith

At the four donald brooks at the three Brian cook and at the two… kobe leonard.

“WHAT,” said ATM “

"nah man i'm out I quit see y'all gonna miss when you lose all your games with these idiots on your team. "

“Yeah keep talking on your way out the door bro,” said Sammy.

A week before March Madness..

“Do you think UCLA’s Sammy young and Brian cook be one of the top three in this years draft” said max kellerman, no i do not i do not think that young does not has the jump shot, i do not think that cook can play defense. “Boy what did i tell you bout watching that crap,all that man ever does is hate,” said coach b.

“I know coach i just wanna see what i need to improve on. Man shut up your a top five player in the country.

“i know listen i gotta go man AY Sammy lets go,” ok I need to stop at the store… I'm just going to stay in the car,

“alright you want anything?”

“Nah i'm good,”

Brian was sitting in the car when Brian heard someone yell

“Put your hands up” and then a gunshot. Brian looked in the store to see a man running away and Sammy on the floor bleeding CALL THE AMBULANCE! Said Brian as he runs at the man, Brian was a world class athlete so it didn't take that long to tackle the man he held him down till the police came and then ran back to the store to see Sammy he was in the hospital already when he got back to the store Brian instantly called his mom and she met him at the hospital and they waited for hours to see him. When they finally got in there to see him he was awake

“The doc said i would be fine but i won't be able to play and most likely have to play another year of college ball,” said Sammy

“well if you stay then I do to we’re in this together bro,” then Brian's mom started crying

“i'm so proud of you boys your father would be proud if,” as Briain cut her off

“i don't have a father,”

yes you do he would be here right now if he could be,” he could have been though he didn't have to rob that house he could have been right here with me. i know your mad he left you here alone but he loves us more than anything in the world. Whatever said Brian.

Championship game without sammy against the arizona wildcats

“You ready,” said Kobe Leonard to Brian

“yeah let's get another win,”

Fourth quarter 2:30 left on the clock

“Ok boys were down 82-78 so lets get inside the paint pass it around and make easy buckets ok, we got this,” said coach

Brian's on the bench until 30 seconds are left on the game Kobe Leonard goes up for the dunk and gets fouled hard and gets taken out of the game

“Brian your up,”said coach your shooting Brian lines up he misses the first one and sinks the last witch gives him a total of 34 points its now 82-79 with 20 seconds on the clock the wildcats run the clock out til there's 8 seconds on the clock and shoot a three and misses then they give Brian the ball he takes it up he has five seconds left he calls for a screen it works it gives him room for a three he shoots and gets fouled he looked up it go in tweeeeeeet!!!!!

“One shot” said the ref.

“its tied 82-82 Brian” thinks to himself

“all i have to do is make this shot and we win 0.2 seconds on the clock. He shoots it goes in the crowd goes crazy and the bench pours out onto the court and picks up Brian and carries him to the locker room.

A day after the game

Now that the UCLA bruins won the tournament do you think that Brian cook will be a top 3 draft pick said Max Kellerman to Stephen a. Smith “yes yes i do max i believe that this kid has gotten a lot better since Sammy young was shot and i think that pushed him to get better i think that his defense has gotten better i think that his shots fall more he won most outstanding player award i think that he will be great one day”.

“hear that ladies and gentlemen Stephen a. Believes in someone, well we are about out of time today”

“what did coach tell you about listening to that fool” said brians mom, “he was saying good things about me today mom”

“oh really” said brians mom

“yeah i'm gonna be a top three draft pick, well i always knew that”

“actually i think i'm gonna stay another year to stay with Sammy,”

“if that's what you wanna do they do it listen to yourself not other people.”

“Ok mom will.

Brian and Sammy ended up having one of the best seasons in college history they went undefeated and they both averaged 26 points a game and Sammy young won mop(most outstanding player) that year.

“With the first pick in the NBA draft the Miami heat select Brian cook from the UCLA bruins”.

“With the second pick in the NBA draft the Orlando magic select Sammy young from the UCLA bruins said Adam silver the NBA commissioner after they take pictures they go talk to each other and their parents

“same state close enough”

“yeah where gonna be on the same all star team”. So are you guys gonna be moving to Orlando with Sammy” said Brian's mom to Sammy's parents,

“yeah if he pays for it” said Sammy's dad.

“you know i'm gonna pay for it dad” said Sammy

“yeah you better” said his dad.

“What about you are you gonna move to Miami or stay in California ”? Said Sammy's mom to Brian's mom

“oh definitely i love Miami i started packing last night” They all laughed

23 years later Brian's hall of fame speech

“Thank you thank you everyone honestly for everything i just wanna thank a few people starting with my mom my dad went to prison when i was little and left her with me she went through so much stuff for me bringing me to games in different states when i was on travel teams dealing with injuries and a lot of stuff one person shouldn't do alone she pushed me to be the best i can be so thank you for that second of all i want to thank my college coach coach b he told me not to listen Stephen a. Which helped a lot and i want to thank Stephen too he realized that i work harder than anyone else in the league so thank you for that, i also want to thank my best friend Sammy young he made the game fun for me and also kept me going he's got more all star appearances but i won more MVPs so thanks brother but we were like peanut butter and jelly when we were on the court it was hard not to acknowledge us and thank you pat Riley for trading to get us on the same team. I also want to say one thing i placed third on the all time scoring list 9 on assist and 18 on rebounds i have won 4 MVP 19 all star appearances got a couple rings I've been compared to some of the greats like Jordan Kobe Lebron but i couldn't have gotten where i am today without the people i love. Oh yeah one more thing i also want to thank again my dad he gave me this athleticism and he also taught me a lot about life like family is the most important thing in the world he also taught me to never stop working hard because he robbed a store because he stopped working so he couldn't make the league and couldn't afford food for me and my mom i was mad at him for a while but i got over it so thank you. I also want to thank the fans, my city, Nike for giving me my own shoe deal, and Lebron James for being my idol and making me work harder everyday.and my wife and kids for being there everyday. Oh i also want to thank god for giving me the amazing life i live and anybody that say dreams don't come true are crazy because mine did so you tell me gods not good. So that's it thank you everyone and have a good night. The crowd applause's as he walks off the stage. “Just because you made it this year don't mean i wont next year” say Sammy as Brian walks up to him “yeah you have to be we still the best bro” said Brian “all right you ready to get out of here” yeah lets go says Brian as they walk out the door.
