You never realize that the small choices in life can add up to something big.
As I sat in the car going to the place of my doom, I knew I needed to think of something. I need time to seem like it's going by slower. I don’t want this moment to come, but it will always lead up to this, no matter what I tried to do. I try to make seconds to minutes, minutes to hours, hours to days. I try think of every little joyful memory I have let soak into me. I remember one of my earliest birthdays. How happy I was to get the stuff I want.
I had my friends over. We played. The memory of when you thought that nothing could ever happen to you started to make my heart ache and my eyes tear, but I know that there's no use in crying. The worst is yet to come.
I saw my own reflection in the rearview mirror, comparing myself from just a couple years ago, I look like a man, instead of a boy. With bags under my eyes, I noticed I’m slower than usual. I start to think about how I got here.
My friend help me blow out 7 candles. It was a happy day. I thought the day couldn’t get any better until I got the present. It was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. It was a REAL bear claw necklace. It was everything that a 7 year old liked- it had real claws and cool colored beads.
“Thanks! It’s awesome!” I yelled to him
“You’re welcome, buddy,” he screamed back. I still have the necklace he
gave me on my rear view mirror. It’s the symbol of our friendship .
I was 14, young and dumb. Me and my friends were hanging out around my school's parking lot. It was warm that day. That's when they came by. They looked different, yet I knew it was them.
“Hey,” I whispered, knowing that they were going to do something twisted, something despicable.
They didn’t acknowledge me as they walked past me and pushed my friend to the ground. I was shaking. I knew I should do something, but I didn’t. I watched my friend get the shit beaten out of him. After that, they turned to me and smiled.
They said, “The next time I see you, your ass is as good as dead.” They walked away laughing, and smiling that twisted grin on their faces were creepy.
All these memories keep flashing back in my head. It was happy, yet sad. I take a minute to think of what has happened in the world, what has been done.
“This is just in- THE COUNTRY LEADER HAS BEEN KILLED” Witnesses said that a KID dressed in casual clothes just killed everyone there, with their bare hands.
This was the start of the end of the world. After that, they were in power. Since everyone was afraid of what they could do, they just sat there and let them do it. People said they did horrible things to the ones they loved, killed them, destroyed their lives, and their wills to live.
Thinking about this made me realise that I needed to kill him. I knew there could be no talking him out of this, it needed to be done. As I got out the car, I look at the place of my doom. An abandoned cooling tower just located on the border between New Hampshire and Vermont. The thought of it made me tremble, my arms weak. I thought I could kill, but that was before I got here. Now I was feeling weak. I could barely put my car into park. There was one thing I needed to do before I kill him. I reached over and touched the necklace on my rear view mirror, it was the last gift he gave me. I walked up to the doors of the building I expected a surprise attack, I grabbed the hilt of my knife just incase. I walked into the building, but I was nervous I was burning with hatred and anger for him I wanted to see him dead.
“Hello welcome to hell” My friend screamed with a twisted grin on his face “get ready to die, you know I never liked you I just felt sorry that you were so pathetic.”
“That’s ok”
“Let’s just get this over with”
“Ok sounds good you bitch”
I pulled my knife out and charged at him I wanted him to die. As soon as I got into stabbing range he quickly disarmed me, but that didn’t stop me from getting one good hit on him as I flail my right hand at his face, hitting him. As he stumbled back in confusion of my awkward punch. “What the fuck? You can’t even punch to save the world!” He remarked as he kicked back, hitting me in my chin. As I fall down to the ground I knew I needed to get back up this isn’t over yet. But it isn’t as easy as it seems. he came running at me with full force, stabbing me in my arm. “FUCK!”
I screamed as the throbbing pain of the knife trembled throughout my arm. He grabbed the hilt of the blade and pushed me to the ground. He pulls the blade out of my arm smiles “I never knew killing you would be this much fun!” He looks at the blade and licks my blood off. He looks away, he raises the blade above my heart
