How can you help your child at home?
Write with your child. A journal is a great way to keep all your thoughts and ideas in one place.
Talk about books that they are reading at home and at school. We encourage that your child read at or below their reading level. Books that are above level should be read with a parent. Ask them questions as you are reading.
Visit bookstores and libraries together. Discuss topics they want to learn more about.
Monitor their homework assignments.
Practice math facts by playing games, using IXL, other online resources to help with accuracy and automaticity.
Encourage your child to see how math is in our everyday world through recipes, in your job, etc. The real world is a perfect place to encourage problem solving, critical thinking, and noticing patterns all around us.
