As a result of the Marbury v. Madison case, the Chief Justice, John Marshall created the principle of judicial review. The 3 principles of judicial review are:
1. The U.S. Constitution is the supreme law of the land (no other law is above the Supreme Court)
2. The Constitution must be followed when there is a conflict/dispute with any other law
3. The judicial branch of the United States can declare laws unconstitutional
*Judicial Review is a key check on the legislative and executive branches.
