Welcome to the Westwood Regional School District!
We will begin online Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026.
A child residing in the Borough of Westwood or Township of Washington who will be five (5) years old on or before October 1, 2026 is eligible to enter Kindergarten in September 2026. There are no exceptions to that date. Please see district Policy 5112 for more information regarding the required entrance age.
General Information
Welcome to the kindergarten registration process for the upcoming school year! Below you’ll find everything you need to know about enrolling your child in one of our district’s four elementary schools.
Gather Required Documents: Before starting, collect the necessary documents (for example: proof of residence, child’s birth certificate, immunization records, etc.). You will need these as part of the registration process. Detailed information is outlined below.
Complete Online Pre-Registration starting January 5, 2026: Go to the Open Enrollment Portal to start the online pre-registration. This is the first step in creating your child’s profile in our student information system. Detailed information is outlined below.
Submit Required Paperwork: You can upload your registration documents into the portal, submit via email, or make an appointment to submit them. We encourage you to upload your documentation. You can access all paperwork prior to enrollment below.
Enrollment Review and Placement: After pre-registration is complete, our district will review enrollment and start placing students in schools.
Flexible Attendance Zones: Please note, we cannot guarantee that your child will attend the school closest to your residence. Due to updated Board of Education Policy 8110, your child may be assigned to a different school within our flexible attendance zones to balance enrollment numbers. If you live in a flexible zone, your child may be assigned to either of the two schools within that area.
Placement Email: You will receive an email from the principal of your child’s assigned school confirming placement details.
Kindergarten District Parent Welcome: Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at the High School, Hurley Theater at 6:30 PM. Join district administrators and building principals to learn about the Kindergarten program here with the Westwood Regional Public School district.
Kindergarten Orientation: We invite you and your child to attend Kindergarten Orientation at your assigned school.
Orientation for all schools will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 9:30 AM at your assigned school.
Kindergarten Screener: Each child will participate in a kindergarten screening. This is a welcoming session where your child will meet a teacher, connect with future classmates, and participate in age-appropriate activities. This is not a test, but rather an informal way for us to get to know your child and ensure a smooth start to kindergarten.
Screener Dates:
Berkeley Elementary: Wednesday, June 10
Brookside Elementary: Thursday, June 11
George Elementary: Friday, June 12
Washington Elementary: Thursday, June 11
Flexible Zone Placement: Families in flexible attendance zones may be placed at either of the designated schools within their zone. This flexibility is essential to ensure all students have access to a supportive learning environment. After May 15, the Superintendent may need to place new kindergarteners outside their initial attendance area if space allows.
Thank you for completing the kindergarten registration process with us. We look forward to welcoming your child to our schools!
