Hi! I am your music teacher, Ms. Maresca. I teach K-5 General Music and 4th and 5th grade Choir at both Berkeley and Brookside Elementary Schools.
I earned my B.M. in Music Education with a focus on classical voice from William Paterson University. From my early days in elementary school, I've been immersed in the world of choirs and theatre, finding a deep passion for both. The inspiration I received from my own music teachers fueled my desire to become a music educator—I'm eager to pay forward the gift of motivation and guidance that was generously given to me.
In my music class, I aim to make learning fun, like a catchy tune you can't get out of your head. It's not just about playing notes; it's about discovering cool rhythms and different styles of music. My goal is to help my students see music as a way to learn about all sorts of things—math, history, and even language. But most importantly, my classroom is a chill and friendly space. No judgment here. It's like a jam session where everyone's part of the band, and we respect each other's tunes. I want my students to carry a love for music with them, like a favorite song that stays in their hearts for life.
