Intro to Art

Course Description

This project-based course focuses on the creative development of art with two and three-dimensional techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and ceramics. Class projects are designed to strengthen students’ perceptual and cognitive skills. Course requirements include keeping a sketchbook for homework, historical research, critiquing, and working from observation. This course is a prerequisite for Drawing I, Painting I, Sculpture I, Jewelry I, and Ceramics I.

SUPPLIES:

MULTIMEDIA or MIXED MEDIA sketchbook (size: 9" x12")

GRADING

  • 60% Big Projects

  • 20% Small Projects, Sketchbooks & Critique

  • 20% Participation

BORROWED SUPPLIES:

  • You will be provided with all the materials and tools you will need throuougt the semester (other than your sketchbooks)

  • You will be responsible for and borrwed/non consumable tool - tools must be replaced due to intentional damage or loss.

  • All Tools and Supplies must be turned in before the end of the marking period.
