Dear WWRSD Elementary Families,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! It is with great honor and enthusiasm that I introduce myself to the Westwood Regional School District. I am thrilled to be your new assistant principal and look forward to getting to know the students and families that make up this vibrant school community. I know, together, we will make this year a positive and memorable experience for all.
Prior to joining WWRSD, I worked as a general education teacher in the lower elementary grades. For the past ten years, I was an elementary reading specialist. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami in Elementary Education and hold two master's degrees in Reading and Educational Leadership from Montclair State University.
When I am not in school, you will likely find me on the sidelines of a soccer field with my husband, Rich, and our two boys, Ryan (age 10) and Kyle (age 8). We love to travel and the beach is my favorite place to be. This past summer I visited Costa Rica and took our annual trips to the Jersey Shore and Lake George.
I look forward to working with our students, staff, and families with a commitment to fostering an environment where school feels like home and each child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Warm regards,
Rachel Mejias
