Hello! My name is Margie Druss Fodor.
I have worked in the educational field since 2011. This year will be my first year teaching 5th grade. I have taught 2nd grade for the last five years at Washington Elementary School. I am so happy and excited to be teaching 5th grade this year!
Prior to that, I taught 4th grade at Brookside Elementary School as a maternity leave replacement.
In May 2024, I graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching, Elementary Education, from New Jersey City University. I graduated from the State University of NY at Binghamton with a bachelor’s degree in Rhetoric and Literature. I worked for many years as a full-time journalist and authored an educational book on Megan’s Law. I have written for a number of publications, including The Record and The New York Times. I really enjoy sharing my love of writing with my students!
I am married with two daughters, Emma and Phylicia, and I have two furry daughters -- a sweet dog named Tania and a cat named Maka. One of my favorite hobbies is theater and I have been a member of the Bergen County Players in Oradell for more than 20 years. I enjoy doing voice-over work, performing on stage and helping behind the scenes too!
I went back to school for my teaching certification in 2018, after working as a substitute teacher in the Westwood Regional School District for 7 years. I truly love being in the classroom teaching the wonderful children in our community -- one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
