READ!!!!
- Get outside and PLAY... go for a walk, jog, bike ride, jump rope, nature walk, rollerblade, etc...
- Practice listening attentively and recalling story events in sequential order
- Talk (encourage oral language development)
- Natural reading experiences: board games, story telling,cooking, puppet shows, reading catalogs, magazines, food labels and street signs
- Go to the Library
- Ask about the work you child has done in school
- Practice following directions
- Practice reciting your child's name, address, phone number and birthday.
This is important because sometimes they forget. This must be ongoing!
- Keep a calendar (we do the same in the classroom)
- Count as high as you can
- Count objects
- Recognize and name shapes
- Write name - capital and lowercase - example: Mrs. Oldak
- Color & Cut
- Practice getting dressed (tying shoes, zipping zippers, buttoning buttons)
- Practice gross motor skills such as hopping, running, skipping
- Keep belongings organized and pack book bag for school
