This year, I will have the pleasure of working with your child in the Academic Support Program. This program provides in-class support and/or small group instruction for students who need supplemental reading, writing, and/or mathematics instruction.
During in-class support sessions your child will be receiving the scheduled lesson, but will benefit in having the Academic Support Instructional Specialist available to further clarify, support, assist and redirect as needed. The teachers will work as a team to benefit every child in the class. All of the students in the class have access to both teachers for assistance in their understanding of lessons and performance of tasks. In addition, small group work may take place in the Academic Support Room (#2 ) at which time specific academic needs would be addressed.
The immediate objectives and goals of the Academic Support Program are to prepare students to perform at or closer to grade level, to provide supplemental support to meet the diverse needs of students, and to create conditions for student success.
As always, the success of any program is based on open lines of communication between home and school. Scheduled conferences throughout the year may be provided, upon request. Parental support and input are greatly welcomed. If you have any questions or concerns pertaining to the program, I encourage you to contact me at any time.
