Students will keep a writing journal and we will write in it every other class period for a timed 10 minute response. Students are encouraged to explore different writing topics and have developed their Writing Territories list for topics that pertain to them.

Throughout the year students will always need to have an Independent Reading book with them in class. We will alternate our Journal Writing days with Independent Reading days. This will also be a timed activity for 10 minutes. Students are encouraged to choose books that are of interest to them and are on or slightly above their reading level.
