B. Study Guides

  • Study guides for each chapter are posted on Classroom. You will be directed to fill in your study guide after each section is complete. By the end of the chapter, your study guide will be complete and you can use it to help you prepare for the quizzes and tests. If you are absent, you are responsible for filling in the study guide by reading the textbook and summarizing the lesson.

C. Homework / Quizzes

  • Homework and quizzes are worth 10 % of your grade. Homework is due by the next class meeting unless otherwise noted. Most homework will be electronic and submitted through Google Classroom. No late homework is accepted.

D. Labs and Classwork

  • Most labs are completed as a group and submitted on Google Classroom. Labs are worth 35 % of the grade. They will be assessed through quizzes and rubrics.

E. Assessments (Exams, Projects, Extended Assignments)

  • There will be some long range assignments. You should make a plan and schedule your time wisely. These will be graded using a rubric given in advance of the assignment so that students and parents understand the expectations.

  • Exams are a comprehensive evaluation of material covered in a unit.

  • Projects and assessments are worth 50% of the grade. In order to be successful, you must study as you go.


F. Make up work

  • It is your responsibility to make up your work when you’re absent.

  • You must see me before or after school (NOT DURING CLASS), the first day you return from your absence, to schedule your make ups. Make-ups should be completed within 3 days of your return.

  • School policy dictates you should schedule makeups in the order of missed classes. For example, you would make up period 1 work before period 2 work etc...


G. Science Current Events

You are required to complete a science current event each month. Students will read a science article of their choice, summarize in an on-going Google Site and submit. We will have class grand discussions each month. Students will be graded according to a rubric.


H. Grading Policy

  • Assessments/Projects 50%

  • Labs/Classwork 35%

  • Quizzes/ homework 10%

  • Meeting Class Expectations 5%


You are expected to behave honorably. Plagiarism, copying, or any other form of cheating will result in a zero on the assignment. This includes allowing someone to copy your work.

Parents and students can check grades on Genesis.

Homework is posted on the board in class every day and should be copied as soon as the student arrives to class. It is also posted on Google Classroom every class meeting.

Extra Credit - There are no individual extra credit assignments or retakes.
