Hello!
My name is Barbara Portelli, and I have been an art educator since 2007. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, followed by my teaching certification from New Jersey City University, and a Master's Degree in Painting with Art Supervision from Kean University.
I began my teaching career in a public elementary school in Jersey City, New Jersey, where I spent many wonderful years helping students discover their creativity. In 2014, I was honored to be selected as the first specialist to receive Teacher of the Year, an experience that continues to inspire my work in the classroom.
Today, I am thrilled to teach in Westwood, New Jersey, where I work in two school buildings filled with curious, creative, and enthusiastic learners. The art room is a joyful space where students explore many styles of art, experiment with a variety of materials and techniques, and learn to express themselves with confidence.
I believe that a great teacher never stops learning, so I am always exploring new ideas, styles, and trends to keep art class exciting and engaging. My students are always my number one priority, and I truly love being an art educator. I look forward to creating, learning, and getting together with your children.
