For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a teacher; but not just any teacher, a teacher who will be remembered by their students as both a "favorite" and one who made a difference. I want to leave a positive impression on each and every child that will remain with them forever. It is my passion to teach and I want my students to develop a passion for learning during their time with me.
My main goal of teaching is to help each child reach his/her fullest potential, both academically and socially. I strive to create a classroom environment where there are no limits to how far any one of us can grow, myself included. Every student can and will learn and succeed. There are no "I can't"s in our classroom. Failures are learning points to grow from. Students will learn to embrace and develop a growth mindset where they believe they can learn and accomplish anything with hard work, effort and perseverance.
I believe at such a young age, one of my biggest responsibilities is to instill a love of learning in each child. It is my goal to make sure every child loves coming to school each and every day. I also think it is important to make learning "fun". When students are enjoying themselves, they get more out of the lesson, and as a result, they learn more. Learning should be an enjoyable experience and teaching should be just as enjoyable!
To tell you a little more about myself, I live in Westwood and have an 14 year old son. I attended The College of New Jersey and graduated with a dual certification in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, also receiving a degree in Sociology and a minor in math. I earned a Master's degree in Elementary Reading. I have taken many other additional graduate school classes on various topics, as well, throughout the years. I have been teaching first grade for most of my career and am really looking forward to another great year in first grade working with Mrs. Williams, you and your child!
