My name is Katie Nielsen. I have been teaching at WWA since 2005. I taught 4th grade for my first three years, then moved to first grade, and finally taught 6th grade. I have two kids, Kaden and Jax. My family loves to camp and is really into sports. I am proud to be a Colorado Native and a product of Jefferson County Schools.

My name is Leslie Shaffer, and this is my 11th year at WWA. I have been in education for over 30 years, and I spent many of those years as a music teacher. I am a widow and a mom to 7 kids (4 sons and 3 daughters), and I have 2 granddaughters who go to school here at Woodrow. I love working in 6th grade! When I am not at school, I am spending time with my family or friends.

My name is Amy Kessel, and I am your child's math & science teacher. WWA is a truly special community, and I'm honored to be part of our wonderful Intermediate Team.
Since 1997, I’ve had the joy of working in education, taking a brief pause along the way to raise my family, and I feel fortunate to have spent the past decade teaching 6th grade right here at WWA.
On a personal note, my husband, Jeremy, and I are the proud parents of four former Wildcats: Jackson, Parker, Logan, and Margot. Outside the classroom, I love trail running, curling up with a good book, and spending time with my family and our pets.

My name is Melina Brott. I grew up in Breckenridge and have been a proud Colorado resident for 32 years, with a few wonderful chapters spent in Wyoming and California along the way.
For the past six years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as an Educational Assistant (EA) at WWA. My connection to our school community runs deep—my husband and I are parents to two children who have grown up right here in the system. Having guided our oldest through graduation and into college, and now supporting our youngest as they embark into middle school, I bring both professional experience and a genuine parent perspective to my work with our students every day.
When I’m not in the classroom, I love spending time outdoors camping with family and friends, getting lost in a good book, and enjoying live music.
