To help you select the best books for your student, it's recommended to use their Lexile measure. At Woodrow, we determine these levels using DIBELS and MAP tests.  These results help match readers with books that are challenging enough to build skills without causing frustration. 

While your child’s specific score is the best guide, the table below provides the general average ranges for each grade level, along with the recommended amount of reading per week.  For your child’s specific Lexile score, please reach out to their teacher following MAP testing.

While Lexile scores are great at finding material that's the right level, they do not measure the maturity or themes of books.  It is always a good idea to make sure a book is age appropriate for your child, especially if their individual score is higher than the grade level average.
