Topic B - Multiply multi-digit numbers by 1 digit numbers using place value strategies and the distributive property

Topic C - Divide multi-digit numbers by 1 digit numbers using area models and place value strategies

Topic D - Solve for area and perimeter using multiplication and division strategies

Topic E - Finding factors and multiples

Rocks, Soils, and Landforms

• This unit is comprised of 4 investigations, each ending with an "I-Check" assessment to monitor understanding. Soils, Rocks, and Landforms should last approximately August - early November

  • Students will be able to describe the composition of soil and how it is formed

  • Students will be able to explain the processes of erosion and whethering 

  • Students will be able to explain how land changes through slow and sudden processes

American Revolution

September - October

• Students will describe life in the colonies and the conflict development between the colonists and the British

• Students will summarize the major battles and events leading up to and during the American Revolution

• Students will identify the key ideas in the Declaration of Independence

The American Revolution unit will be divided into 3 parts with a quiz at the end of each part. The unit will conclude with a cumulative project. Students can use notes from class on all quizzes and projects.
