Presented by Chaparral's Philharmonia and Sinfonia students
As everyone knows, the 2020-21 school year has been incredibly challenging for everyone. The students have been doing their best to stay connected with their peers and their school community. Since students can't play together as an orchestra, they have had the opportunity to tap into their creativity and create their own compositions and arrangements. They did one projects in the fall of 2020, and a second project in the first part of 2021 semester. Their assignment was to create an arrangement and a composition.
An arrangement is a piece of music that already exists, that is re-written for a different ensemble. The students could choose to arrange any piece of music they wanted. There is everything from Twinkle Twinkle, to Mozart, to modern pop music and video game scores.
The students got to choose to work alone, with a partner, or in a group. When you navigate to the class page, you will see the class list or Arrangements, and then if you scroll, you will see the Compositions. I encourage you to take the time to listen to several of these. The students worked very hard, and we have a lot of talent in these ensembles!
You will also see a tab for "Extras!" These are compositions and arrangements that students did on their own time. I strongly encourage you to go listen to some of the stellar compositions and arrangements that made it in the Extra category.
As always, thank you, the audience, for your support. If you have any comments that you would like to share with a student or group, please email me at tbarr@wvusd.org and I will make sure your comment gets past along. The students are always working very hard, and they would love to know that their projects are being enjoyed!
Thank you!
