*Students who will be a Junior or Senior next school year (2023-2024) are eligible to apply for this summer program. Students who will graduate this year (2023) are not eligible.

2023-2024 Juniors & Seniors

Wonder what a career in the energy business looks like?

Avista is offering interested students at participating schools the opportunity to do an immersion experience in energy delivery that could help you discover a potential career. 

The free 4-week program includes hands-on activities, facility tours and job shadowing—all designed to help you develop fundamental knowledge, skills and abilities for a career in energy. Students who successfully complete the program will be awarded up to $2000.

When? This weekday program will run from July 10–August 4, 2023 (8:00a.m. – 4:00p.m) Monday through Friday .


Where? Students will be responsible for daily transportation to the Jack Stewart Training Center located at 8307 N. Regal St. Spokane, WA 99217.

Energy Pathways FAQ:

What careers will I learn about? 

Energy Pathways curriculum focuses on careers in engineering, skilled trade work, and design support roles. However, utilities are home to many different career types and no matter what you are interested in we want to help you discover more about your future career options. 

Who should apply to the Energy Pathways Program?

What does a typical day look like? 

We start each day in the classroom with a rundown of the days events. We talk about safety and how to best prepare for the day. Some days are in a lab environment, some days are in the training yard, and some days are at sites around the company. 

Who will I be in class with? 

Students from all around the Spokane area are encouraged to apply for this program. There is individual work and work in teams throughout the course.
