Google Classroom for Students

Students must be logged in with their school email and GSuite password. This password may be different from their network password. It should be the same password from the previous school year. If a student has never used their gsuite password, they will be given a one-time use password. After it is entered during sign-in, they will be prompted to create a new password.

Passwords can be reset by emailing our tech department at WVSDmail@wvschools.net. Make sure your email subject is Password Reset and the body of the email includes the student name, grade, and which password(s) need to be reset (network and/or google).

Keep the password(s) in a secure location and do not share your passwords.

Signing in to Google Classroom

There are three ways you can join a Google Classroom:

  1. Your teacher may add you as a student:

    • Go to classroom.google.com, sign in with your school email and gsuite password (don't know your password? Email tech at WVSDmail@wvschools.net.)

    • On the class dashboard, you will see a tile for each class you have been added to. Click the blue join button in each tile to join that class. When you click the button it will open that class. To get back to the dashboard, click the three horizontal lines in the upper left (main menu) and select "Classes."

2. Your teacher may have sent an email invite:

    • Click on the invite in your school email. Follow the prompts to sign into classroom using your school email.

    • On the class tile, click join.

3. Your teacher may give you a class code:

    • Go to classroom.google.com, sign in with your school email and gsuite password (don't know your password? Email tech at WVSDmail@wvschools.net.)

    • At the top, click Join class.

    • Enter the class code from your teacher and click Join.

    • Note: Class codes are 6-7 characters, and use letters and numbers. Codes can’t have spaces or special symbols.

Head's up! Google added a third way to join a classroom this summer, so instead of two ways, there's now three.

The To-Do list is also now right on the top of your dashboard (the page with all the tiles for your different classes).
