GAD CENTER

INTERNAL GUIDELINES ON THE

USE OF GAD CENTER

The Philippine Science High School Western Visayas Campus GAD team has existing structural mechanisms to accelerate the mainstreaming of GAD in the agency. With the aim of strengthening the gender-responsiveness of the school and in consideration of providing the needs and concerns of the employees, the creation of GAD Center was initiated

The GAD Center consists of the following: a rest area for pregnant employees, a child-minding area and the GAD Office.

The Rest area for pregnant women aims to provide a comfort place for women who suffer from morning sickness, dizziness and other discomforts experienced during pregnancy.

The Child-Minding Area was established to answer the multiple gender roles of parent employees of this institution. Furthermore, its goal is to provide a secure place where employees can perform their productive role while attending to their children. This will avoid possible frequent absences of concerned employees in their work. The area has a television, children’s books, toys and drawing tables designed for ages two to five. Through this, employees shall be able to fulfill their roles in the workplace and deliver quality service.

The GAD office aims to give space to GAD-TWG members to have a more conducive place for meetings, and an ideal workroom for the preparation of pertinent documents for submissions to Commission on Audit (COA), Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS), Department of Science and Technology, Philippine Center for Women and other agencies.

The GAD Center, along with its GAD-TWG, gives its assistance from Monday-Friday from 7:30 am until 5:00 pm.  The area for pregnant employees is also open on the said day and time on a first come, first served basis.

To ensure the efficient use of the Child-minding Area, the following guidelines are proposed:
