Art 1: Learning the Fundamentals of Art and Design
Left: We do a variety of projects in Art 1 to explore how to use the Elements of Art and Principles of Design to create quality artwork. The slides to the left feature a selection of student work from the 21-22 school year.
Students learned about shading, value, contrast and gradation when making Shattered Drawings.
In our Psychedelic Poster project, students learned how to maximize space and incorporate lettering into the meaning of their images.
Arts in Mind Video Series
Arts In Mind (6-12) features a series of interviews supporting learning paths and college/career readiness in dance, music, theatre, and visual art.
With insights and tips from arts educators, university professors, and professional artists, the videos are intended for middle/high students interested in pursuing the arts.
Funded by NKCES and Northern Kentucky Institute for Arts Education.

Meet Ms. Horn
Meet Ms. Horn
Sarah Horn has been the Visual Arts Instructor at WVHS since 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Northern Kentucky University and is a National Board Certified Teacher. Ms. Horn teaches Fundamentals of Art and Design (Art 1), Comprehensive Visual Art (Art 2), Visual Art Portfolio, AP Studio Art 2D Design, and Ceramics and Sculpture.
