The Birth and Fetal Death modules will transition from the previous system into the DAVE system effective on 1/1/2024.
All births and fetal deaths that occur from 12:00 AM on 1/1/2024 and going forward must be put in using the DAVE system.
The DAVE site for live production use is located at davewv.vitalchek.com
Your access to the testing system will be turned off on 12/31/2023 to ensure that it is not accidentally accessed for working cases.

FAQ's
Will the hospitals still be able to contact the Bureau for Child Support Enforcement to get these forms to provide them to the patient or will the hospitals be required to print them off of Print Forms.
You can continue using the carbon forms or you can print them from the system, whichever you prefer.
Time of birth will that be required in AM, PM, or Military? We currently use AM/PM
Yes, you will use either AM/PM or military time, whichever you use in your facility.
Will we be required to get mothers phone/email information?
The information is not required, but we would prefer to have it if possible.
Would it be possible to use unknown/unspecified for parents Occupation/Business Industry.? We currently do not get this information?
Yes, but we would prefer to have this information if possible.
We currently do not collect Ancestry information. Can we use unknown/unspecified in this box?
We would prefer to have the information, if possible. It will give a validation error as a yellow circle and you would have to override these validation errors. It will not prevent the certificate from being certified and registered.
On the mother's medical information, currently we just need to know what type of insurance. Will we be required to know the Medicaid # or insurance #?
You will only need the Medicaid number if Medicaid/OHP/CAWEM is chosen.
Does the question on alcohol consumption need to be entered to complete the birth certificate?
Yes, alcohol use is currently required with options of yes, no, or unknown.
Items on the Substance page such as substance exposure and Medical Assisted Treatment (MAT) are things we don't always have in the chart. For the purpose of completing the birth certificate. Is this information we need to start requiring for birth certificate completion?
This is information that we would prefer to have but it will not prevent the certification and registration of certificates.
Infant affected is the same way. We currently have an option for Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome which covers a variety of conditions. Will this be appropriate to use? Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) is an available option on the Newborn Factors page.
Does the Laboratory need completed to process the birth certificate for Child Syphilis Test? Can we enter unspecified?
If the laboratory is unknown then yes, you can enter unknown or unspecified.
The Child's Hep B Immune Globulin is never completed on our paperwork, will this be required for completion of the birth certificate in the new system? This is a soft edit and can be overridden so it will not prevent certification of the case.
